If you have received as gift an object from a friend, but due to the background circumstances of that person´s life(problems, diseases, bad luck)you feel, or suspect it might be negatevely charged due to that environment, what cleasing and purifying methods would you perform, in the case that on one hand you perhaps if it is a gift from a friend you would like to keep it, but on the other hand you want to be sure that the object is clean, and free of negativities. Let me know all your insights, ideas and methods, please. Thank you.

There are many ways to purify a space, object, or living creature. Many herbs and certain chemical compounds such as saltpeter, salt,sulfur, and charcoal have purifying properties. Burning certain herbs and chemical compoundscreatessmoke that will purify the object of any ill or negative energy. Some things you can dissolvein water or steep and use with an aspergillum.You can also waft the smoke around or use the aspergillum on an individual or within a specific space to again purify the being or space occupied. Below are some link to a few items mentioned that you may find interesting.
Another option is to purify through crystals/stones If you happen to have a collection.
Start by placing the object with a grounding stone, like obsidian, onyx, tourmaline, or black kyanite and let it rest for a couple of days. Perhaps put them 'in isolation' together in a silk bag or in a small box, or buried together in soil.
Then you can similarly charge the item with more positive energies by placing the object with an energizing stone like blue kyanite, Herkimer diamond, or a quartz/amethyst cluster and leaving it on a sill where it can catch sunlight and moonlight. Ideally over the day before, of, and after a full moon to really maximize things.

Crystals, metals, and stones are another great way to purify and charge. Placing the item near these materials with the specificintention to purify them is a longer process than smudging or cleansing. I find it takes a full moon cycle to purify an object this way. Startat the waning full moon to remove, cleanse, and purify while the waxing moon adds renewal energy, increasing the stones own energy to purify. In addition to placing the item with a stone, crystal, or metal you can create a grid around them with multiple aspects of intention. Some stones are shaped to resemble other aspects of the craft, such as sacred geometry or animal energy.
