After casting this spell, the caster has five seconds in which to touch someone with the palm of their left hand. When they do, the target may suffer pain or depression.

You need to charge energy. Magik will not work if you do not conjure Magik. Simply saying some words is not a spell. It is talking. You need to put energy and intention into what you do. That being said, you can charge negative energy and when you touch someone release the energy into them. It will not give them depression, but they might feel a sudden zap of sadness, or doubt, or a dip in mood. The effort you put into a spell will determine the effect it has. This is a very VERY low amount of effort, so it will have little to no payoff.
