Yes there are christians who are better then most. However as a whole they have caused tons of destruction. Anyone who doesn't fit into there beliefs are shunned and harassed. They meddle in USA Government a nation which is suppose to be sepeeration of Church and State.
Blacksunn, I totally disagree with you, I come from a Christian family and when I was Christian I never shunned people because they had different beliefs. There are people that do but, it's because the bible teaches people that everyone has to be exactly like them. Parents also teach their children that same exact philosophy sometimes. Why are you blaming the person when you should be blaming what people believe is written in the bible? I know people make their own decisions but, decisions are largely influenced by what we have been taught when we are little, or as adults. If your taught in second grade that one plus one equals two, you will always believe one plus one equals two, although there will always be those that say one plus one equals three, instead of two, it's how we're taught that has a large impact on our lives. I hope you understood my metaphor and I hope you realize that when Christians did these awful things a lot of times they had no choice. People were either being brainwashed or forced into what they were doing. Please do research next time before you go making broad statements about things. Sometimes you'll find that by studying a little history you will learn something, no offense intended here darksunn.
Oh blacksunn, sorry for the misspelling before, tell me one time in the past two years that the U.S. Government has actually allowed Christians to pass laws relating to their religion. There are churches every day and I know of of one who try to get praying back in school but, the government says no every time. I know of a state where Christians are trying to get evolution removed out of the school ciriculum but, that hasn't happened yet because we still have separation of church and state. I really do hope you have some hard evidence to back this up before you go making statements that are very broad without stating any proof. No offense to anyone here. I don't like Christianity and general and there are some Christians who aren't nice but why penalize the whole group with statements like this?
Gay marriage is a biggie. The only reason why this is such a hated idea is due to oh the religion that says it accepts everyone. They contradict themselfs a lot. Also the pledge of allegiance, the God we trust on cash, the fact theres tons of catholic schools yet i hardly see any other religion based school, and the preident swears on the bible. Heck everyone does in court yet everyone forgets this. We are judging the whole here are there christians not crazy as others yes. But we can not let people get away with so much because of a few. Look at the Inquistion they tried to wipe out anyone not following their view. As a whole its a destructive religion and has constantly tried to force people into their view by fear and constant anoyance.
I have full respect for anyone and what they believe, even if they're athiest and believe absolutely nothing. But when I see anyone claim things concerning their beliefs in a matter of fact way, or they are preaching, I develop a strong desire to debate/discuss with them.
On one side, I do it to see how sturdy their belief is. I despise blind followers who preach, no matter what the belief. If someone has true faith in something (and are not blind followers) they will have a well thought out explaination for all of their statements, whether the answers lie in their common sense, observation, experience or literature.
On the other side, I love intellectual challeges, and I hope they can come up with a good arguement. If you've ever had a good debate, you'd know that both sides walk away a little more enlightened than before their discussion. Good debates force you to think through your own answers, ones you may not normally ponder on your own time. Unfortunately, a good debate is not common. Criticism is not a bad thing! Insultive criticism is just mean, the rest of criticism can be very useful. Being 100% agreeable at all times teaches us nothing.
I'm a christian, though the religion sees all other forces as evil, and everything one does as a sin.i bet one can sin a thousand time per hour if you look at it in a christion way.
Though i damn the christian rules apart from love thy neigbour as thyself.i worship christ and i remain cool, thats enough for me,i have'nt critisize anyone base on their beliefs before.
Personally, I don't hate Christians unless their pushing their religion on me after I've made it clear that I'm not interested in it or if their using my religion to make me out to be a bad guy when I'm not.
Unfortunately this ends up happening a lot to many of us that come to the craft. Since wicca and paganism aren't part of the big 3 they end up being really misunderstood and a lot of people rely on the false information that their fed by the media and certain pagans that are also interested in using their religion for financial gain and continue to make us look like bad people.
With kids being some of the meanest people out there (trust me, they are, I was made more fun of for my sexuality and religion in high school than from adults that are usually willing to keep their mouths shut in public) its them that will be the meanest to people about changes in religion. More so when they have parents that have taught them that any religion other than the one they practice is wrong and that all other religions are dangerous.
Many people, like my own mother, will also be cruel because they want their kids to be "normal" and in modern society our religion isn't exactly considered normal.
