Take a piece of parchment or fine quality writing paper and inscribe the name of the friend or person you wish to hear from. Write it in a circle twice, so the ends meet. The more you can personalize the spell to this person the better. You might not know their last name, but if you have a photo, their birthday, what school they attended, anything you can think of that was specific to them.
Whatever works. Witchcraft can be pretty, and sometimes you'll need the expensive item, but the majority of spells throughout history has been ''whatever's on hand.'' Paper is paper. The tent and energy you use matter more in this spell than the paper you used. If you're worried, place some honey on the paper. Honey will attract, sweeten, and let spells ''stick'' better.
oh yeah update: i tried it (with not fancy paper) and it sorta half worked. working the time frame she viewed the instagram chat, although i suppose it could’ve been a friend just opening it as a favor to get rid of notifications. she did not end up actually contacting me though
